Background: The TransfORmation Project represents our efforts to foster a culture of safety and respect in the operating room (OR)
Methods: The TransfORmation Project is a series of independent projects. Each project is led by a smaller working group that reports back to our larger multidisciplinary team. Our intent is for each project to build on the others in an iterative fashion, ultimately working together to improve overall safety culture.
Results: Our TransfORmation Project team has developed long term relationships with OR frontline and leadership staff. Each smaller project is designed with its own specific objectives that contribute to our overall goal of improving safety culture. This presentation will highlight three examples of our work, and illustrate how each individual project ties back to our broader TransfORmation objectives: Know your team; Know your impact; Know your voice; Know your limitations; Know the critical moments.
Conclusions: Achieving culture change is a difficult and lengthy process. In large organizations, efforts to improve processes and interprofessional communication can often be fractured. The TransfORmation Project seeks to provide a place to bring similar efforts together, therefore improving the likelihood of meaningful culture change.
